2:03a second try
This was my originally rejected article (they decided to use Goats, retitling it 'connecting with a goat') that I've touched up, deciding to use all of lovely Pauls suggestions, which now strike me as much more funny and very funny now that I'm drunk, and hopefully they will use this one because I have written nothing and am only ever playing bass or doing rhythm training
Ask a Celebrity Look-alike
You have learned to love the many cell phone advertisements around town. They are pretty. Usually a poster of a famous Korean lady baring her shoulders, holding her cell like an ice cream cone.
Your favorite cell phone model is Kim Tae Hee, though you don't know what it is about her. It might be the concave slide between the bottom of her nose and her upper lip, or her impossibly high college entrance exam score, or her BA from Seoul National University. Maybe it's those horrible black eyes—wide open, asking you questions about what you are doing so far from home.
Sometimes when you are feeling bittersweet and you have a bottle of soju in hand, you look back at her and ask the big questions: 'Hey, where do we come from? Wassa meaning of life? Why don't you love me?'
Fortunately for you, my yoga instructor looks a lot like your woman. Your Correspondent: What is the meaning of life?
Ha-na: To try to be happy and try to enjoy life.
YC: What measures do you think should be taken in saving the blue fin tuna from extinction?
H: I know that SK is doing good cleanup actions around Ulsan, because of the factories.
We are in Coffee Tree café (Seongnam-dong, Ulsan—across from Shinhan Bank), sharing a pizza-sized waffle topped with ice cream and thinly sliced kiwi. Ha-na is sitting across from me in her workout uniform, smiling, her posture perfect, shoulders square. One hand is in her lap, the other gestures fluidly as she speaks, using her thin fingers. She laughs often, and bites her lower lip before answering.
YC: If yoga was a fruit, what would it be?
H: Why a fruit?
YC: Fruit is natural, sweet, and good for you. And goes great with cream. …Yup, you can use fruit for just about anything.
H: *bites lip* I have only been practicing yoga for three years, so I can't define yoga in a fruit, because, it would mean I'd completed yoga. Yoga is too huge to be defined by one fruit. The goal of yoga is understanding the mind and controlling it. When we live everyday, we may hurt others or be hurt by others. When we practice yoga, we can get rid of busy interaction and return to our true selves, where our minds are still.
YC: What's the best thing about being famous?
H: If I get famous, I can be a conveyor of yoga to people.
YC: What was it like working with Jo Hyun Jae?
H: Who?
YC: In Forbidden Love, you play a fox of nine tails who falls in love with a human being, which is strictly prohibited for foxes with nine tails. Have you ever personally felt conflicted between your emotions and the well-being of your um species?
H: To me, love always comes first.
YC: Tell us about the dark side of yoga.
H: I am not graduated in yoga, but I teach it. So I'm worried about directing people incorrectly.
YC: Many places in the world claim to be experiencing problems related to a phenomenon known as 'The Global Warming'; do you believe this is going to be a problem for Korea? If so, which is more dangerous to the Ulsan population, The Global Warming or smoking?
H: Smoking is very dangerous and unhealthy. I am glad that in Ulsan much less girls smoke. But there are still many smokers.
YC: What do you hate most about foreigners?
H: I haven't had many experiences talking to foreigners. They are friendly, saying hello to people they don't know, which is good.
YC: Has anybody ever told you that you look like Kim Tae Hee?
H: No. After eating, I took Ha-na to a photo booth and dressed her in a red cloak and top hat. The pictures came out wonderful, but were unfortunately too small to scan for the magazine. They remain in my person possession, taped between two CYON posters above the microwave.

11:42p I promised a real t shirt OR.....
I am in a regional coverband. We have t-shirts we sell at our shows. I love taking our shirts and doing cool stuff with them (even though the guys in the band don't always appreciate my efforts). I had made the original shirt and wore it to a show and one fan liked it so much she asked me to make her one.
The original t shirt

The name of my band is Boogie and the Yo Yoz. This particular shirt is designed to look like the guitar hero logo. Fun huh?

5:11p This just made my month. Unbelievable.
Too good to be true. Seriously, where has this place been all my life? Not only does it offer a Psy.D in clinical psychology with a track in forensics (to be completed in a possible 5 years), but it's fucking Hillsboro. Hillsboro!! The name listed there amongst faculty? Our office uses that person for psych evals. All day I had this urge to call Dr. Clark-Plowman to see if I could ask her what it's like to do what she does, a "real life" forensic clinical psychologist. They do exist, they do. How magical, like a unicorn. But Hillsboro? It's right there on a silver platter. The internship is at the psych building in downtown Portland. Where in downtown Portland? SW 10th between Washington and Morrison. Where is Metro? Only SW 5th between Alder and Morrison. It's insane. All these forensic schools I've looked at have always been on the east coast. New York, Pennsylvania, Boston. One in Texas. Haney told me of someone in Kentucky and Florida (even threw in 'unfortunately' at the end of his recommendation). No thanks to all that. It was disheartening, and makes me less motivated to pursue this sort of thing if it means leaving a place I've fallen in love with. Yeah I'd buck up and go, but at this moment in time, I found it less of an importance...which is saying something about the way I see where my life is going. I deserve to follow something I've wanted to follow for awhile, and stop worrying about things. Where am I going if not forwards.
The Psy.D program says minimum of a 3.4 with high GRE scores...and yet the MA program says 3.0 GPA. I feel almost like a shoe in for the MA (although I don't want to be cocky about that). But this gives me hope, gives me something. Real world experience is by far the more advantageous thing one person can get, if the faculty at UCSC had anything to say about it. I'm going to stay at Metro for quite some time. In the meantime, I'm going to look into GRE classes as PCC. While I work up my skills for the GRE, I'll take that, then apply in a year or two (provided I can make it through Metro that long, I hope this gives me more motivation). So with letters of recommendation from Craig Haney, Phillip Hammack and Tony Hoffman, PLUS possibly recommendations from people at Metro...it should help me. I think I can do this.
Money is another issue, and I'm not sure yet how I might be able to do all this on my own, and more pressingly how I can balance work with grad school, even given night classes...but I think this is what I want to do career wise. It's still possible via fin aid or scholarships (eek). And maybe one day, Metro will be calling Dr. Holdship to do psych evals for their clients. This is kind of blowing my mind. Mainly how the programs all fit together, but the approach to psych and law is practically my approach to it. That is crazy, I've yet to have found a school where there is a professor that studies the same thing I want to study besides Craig Haney at my alma mater (that is less than enthusiastic about re-enrolling undergrads as grads for social sciences, granted with good reason....but I also don't want to be moving back to SC just yet/anytime soon). I can work with the prisons in Oregon if I want, or Oregon State Hospital as a different approach.... but more importantly...look how unbelievably close it is to me. It's right there. I cannot wrap my head around this fact. There has never been anything remotely close...sure there was PSU, but the professor didn't do psych and law. If I'm accepted, I can stay in Portland. I can stay in Portland, and I can get a higher degree and get a job amongst people I already know in a system I'm already begrudgingly used to. I literally can have my cake and eat it too. This is absolutely unbelievable. I literally have no excuse. This is it. I should at least try.
I still want to be something.

12:15p
Hi everybody.
I am planning a shirt that will be made larger than it was originally and want to add ruching. I understand how to do this (sew in a zig zag and gather) but doesnt it give the same effect as sewing over stretched elastic? making "ruches" with elastic adds a lot of stretchiness to the design, does ruching do that too? If not, then are there any advantages in ruching, other than not having to actually buy any elastic?
I just wondered what your experiences/ opinions/ preferences regarding ruching are......
I'll post my shirt when its finished.
Cheers

12:58p what it do baby boo?
BLECH! Long time lurker here...I know you"re supposed to scan the tags to help with thing you"re looking for...but I can't find it!!!
So.. I'm looking for the tutorial that someone posted about changing a plain Hanes tee into a top with ruffles on the front....
I am pretty sure they left the neck the way it was and cut the sleeves off at an angle up to where the neckline meets...
Does this even make sense?

10:20p A Re-re con 'cause I can can
Yep, so, hauled out Henrietta (beloved Bernina) and went to town on this shirt I did a major recon on last summer. I really liked it, but it was too short so I happened across a black t-shirt and a blue stretchy halter my sister had given me for the cutting up.
